About General Anxiety Disorder
If you have any of the following symptoms then you may have general anxiety disorder:
- Excessive worry about various issues in life that can not be controlled and take over a lot of the individual’s life.
- Frequently there is very little realistic reason to worry.
- The worry nevertheless is difficult to control.
- Stress intolerance which is frequently out of proportion in relation to the actual situation.
- Aspiring to be perfect in everything a person does but it’s never perfect enough.
- Overanalyzing issues in the quest to be perfect.
- Occasional physical symptoms such as:
- Excessive sweating
- Heart palpitations
- GI symptoms
- Sense of internal restlessness
- Trouble sleeping
- A sense of restlessness inside the body
- A sense of doom at times
How are anxiety disorders treated?
One of the best ways to work through anxiety is to talk through it and make use of appropriate medications. Dr. Goldstein will work with your psychotherapist to coordinate treatment. Frequently after psychotherapy is complete medications are very frequently discontinued.
